How to Become CEO: The Rules for Rising to the Top of Any Organization
ASIN:0786864370

Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Great wisdom, easy read, straight to the point
Comments: I read this book in about 2 hours, almost in one sitting. The author writes brief conveys his message in brief, concise statements which sends the message across. The book is a collection of attributes that one must have to rise to the top of an organization. It briefly mentions each point and tells you a reason why you have to do so. A couple of key points surprised me, like the "Skip all office parties" rule and the "Eat in your hotel room" one. Take the advice given here with a grain of salt. It's really easy reading, but by no means gives a sufficient explanation why you should really follow each rule. It's a must read for employees, even if you don't plan on becoming CEO.

Rites of Passage at $100,000 to $1 Million+: Your Insider's Lifetime Guide to Executive Job-Changing and Faster Career Progress in the 21st Century
ASIN:0942785304

Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: One Of The Very Best!
Comments: "Rights of Passage" is one of the most comprehensive books I've ever read on the job search process, and is a must for the library of any senior level executive that is serious about furthering his or her career. As a search consultant myself, it's obvious that Lucht knows his subject very well, and has some very savvy advice to offer ... especially to those wishing to pursue a career change through an executive recruiter. At ~650 pages, though, "Rites" can be a bit imposing for the busy executive. Another excellent book on the job search process is "The Secrets of Executive Search ... Professional Strategies for Managing Your Personal Job Search," by Robert Melancon. "Secrets" is similar to "Rites" in that both were written by seasoned executive search consultants and are chocked full of very helpful job search advice. But "Secrets" is more "reader friendly," relates to a broader spectrum of professionals, executives, and salary levels, and is easy to use as a professional reference throughout the job search process. I highly recommend both books!
