One wonders where this book has been. Goff makes it seem so simple.
Could it really be? But finally there is a voice that spells it out.

Manage
I.T.: A Step by Step Guide to Help New and Aspiring IT Managers Make
the Right Career Choices and Gain the Skills Necessary ASIN: 0965053490
Customer's Rating: 5
Summary: Excellent. Useful and Timely!
Comments: Manage I.T. is very useful and timely book.
It addresses two big concerns that IT professionals face today. Avoiding
a career change that may result in career disaster and quickly coming
up to speed in the role of the manager if they do decide to make the
move. In our current economic environment where people are pushed
into new jobs as companies downsize and quickly judged as successes
or failures in these new jobs, the Manage I.T. book can be a lifesaver.
Thank you Joe and Jim.

MCSE Migrating from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 to Microsoft Windows 2000 Study Guide (Exam 70-222) (Book/CD)
ASIN:0072127112
Customer's Rating: 3
Summary: Just passed, also used this book (real review from Chef)
Comments: Hi there ! There are few books about 70-222 to pick from, so I've purchased this one in addition to Exam Prep 'Migratinng from NT4' (which I based my studying on). It's always a good rule to have several sources to prepare properly. I stick to my point NOT to purchase any study guides/training kits/readiness reviews published by M$, because DO NOT consider it as right source for preparation (that's after 5 exams complete) Well, just passed the exam (not proud about the score ;) No courses taken, just self-training with homegrown W2K LAN. Things I liked in this book: - Good chapter summarization (cert summary + two-minute drill + Self test quez) - Exercises integrated everywhere within chapters - Helpful Scenario & Solution situations - Not bad self test questions Things I didn't like : - I don't think the book structured properly, thus hard to work with. Also many subjects repeated with no reason. - Several subjects poorly covered (unfortunately, the ones from the exam) - The whole migration process was NOT described properly (types, tools, tasks) - 'From the Classroom' section is quite usless (there goes the 'only classroom-based training (..) system) - Too much info NOT related to the actual exam - Nothing special with the Exam Questions as well as the Cert Trainer CD itself (however authors very proud of it) After all I think this book can be useful as additional source. Good luck for everybody ! The exam is not hard ;) Chef Cheflab.com

MCSE Windows 2000 Server Study Guide (EXAM 70-215) (Book/CD-ROM)
ASIN:0072123869
Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: Great study guide for this test!
Comments: I'm not sure why this book has gotten so many bad reviews. This is the main book I used to prepare for this exam, and I passed it on the first try with a 900+ score. I used mainly this book, and the Windows 2000 Server resource kit to fill in the gaps on some of the things that I didn't feel totally competant with. This book, and some hands on experience in a test network is plenty to pass this exam. Take it from a 2000 MCSE, this one will help you greatly in passing this test.

Cisco Ccnp Switching Exam Certification Guide (Cisco Career Certification,)
ASIN:1587200007
Customer's Rating: 4
Summary: A good book that needs a little help.
Comments: Based solely on the reviews posted here, I made the decision to use this book as the foundation for the exam. However, I felt it necessary to supplement it with CCIE LAN Switching by Hamilton and Clark, primarily because some of the concepts mentioned in the certification guide needed further explanation or illustration. I would also urge you to get the errata from Cisco Press website. A few words about the testing software that comes on the companion CD; it is a bit buggy. For example, the software will ask you to select multiple correct answers for a question, but will provide you only with radio buttons (which as you might know allows you to make only one selection--mutual exclusivity). Given all its shortcomings, I still think it deserves a four star rating. Another book that I referred to was the CCNP Switching by Lammle (latest edition). Chapters dealing with Multicast (concepts) and Multicast configuration are explained quite nicely in Lammle's book. When it comes to Multicast and its configuration I suggest you read Lammle's book first, then read the corresponding chapters in the certification guide. Finally, I used the Boson BCMSN test number 2 (the in-house test). Boson offers three tests for [$$$] each, so if you've got the money get them all. You'll get about 750 questions with all the three tests. BTW: I took the test yesterday (Dec-19) and passed with a score of 926.
